Mid 18thC Bird Scene Open Salt #2

This is a superb open salt dish made by Meissen in about 1740. A really nice example in terms of shape and painting. The piece has a shell shaped dish on top sitting on three feet. The dish rim has a nice relief design to the paste and four bugs painted on that with the center having a nice hand painted bird scene to it including two birds sitting on a branch with some greenery. Nice gold trim to the edge, end and feet. The piece is marked with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark on the underside as shown. No numbers yet. The salt dish is 1.875 inches tall, 3.125 inches wide and 3.625 inches long. It is in perfect condition with some minor firing flaws like a firing crack by one of the legs and the bottom of the feet have not been glazed and turned a dark grey over time. Just a superb piece!
