Fancy Open Salt Dish

This is a really super and early open salt dish / trencher made by Meissen in about 1740. The nicest I ahve seen in a long time! It is round in shape with a handle in the form of lady bust on either side and is decorated with a relief design as well as a bird scene, a scene including mice or some other form of rodent, a lemon branch with a fruit and its leaves and blossoms, another fruit scene I cannot make out as well as two floral arrangements. The peice sits on four feet with puce trim to them. Brown trim to the top edge. This piece has it all and looks amazing! The open salt is in superb condition with some minor firing flaws common to these early peices as well as a touch of wear but it displays perfectly! The piece is marked with the under glaze blue crossed swords underneath as shown - it is fairnt but it's there. The dish is 2.625 inches tall with the heads sticking up a bit more and 3.25 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $999
