Putto w/Bird in Cage

This is a great figurine made by Meissen in the mid 18th century. It is of a putto resting on a base with a bird cage in front of him. The back arm is holding back of the cage with his front hand is near the chicken / bird that is in the cage as if playing with it. Typical early base with relief molding all around highlighted with gilding and two flowers to the top of it. The putto has a flowing cloth around it with nice flowers painted on it. A really nice early figure in great condition. Just some firing creacks to the base rim and to some of the pieces making up the cage which is to be expected on these early pieces. I think there might be a repair to a toe or two but it was done so perfectly it is impossible to see. It just feels a bit off in that area. A really nice figurine that is in great condition and not a model you ever really see. It is marked underneath with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark as shown. The figurine is 3.625 inches tall, 5.25 inches wide and 2.75 inches deep. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $1249
