Fully Reticulated Basket

This is a nice early reticulated basket made by Meissen during the mid 18th century, right around 1750. The piece is superbly modeled with a reticulated design all around as well as to the underside which is not soemthing you see too often. Likely meant to store chestnuts. The basket has lots of extra detail to the outside in the form some gilding, applied blue and yellow flowers on all the intersections as well as a little rope design to the bottom edge. The inside lattice just has a groove design to the strands and there is a gold trim to the top edge. It's a really nice basket that is in good condition with a crack to one of the top rim sections and some cracks in a section near the bottom inside as shown. That one you can't see from the outside. Some fine firing inclusions to the glaze common to these early pieces. All in all in great shape for a piece this old! The basket is marked underneath with the blue under glaze crossed swords mark on one of the strands as shown. The piece is 2.75 inches tall with a top diameter of 6.875 inches.
