Monkey Band Drummer Figurine

This is a figurine from the famous monkey band made by Meissen in the 19th century. A nice earlier piece that is superbly modeled and hand painted with tons of details. The figure is normally the drummer just holding a drum stick in either hand but he was restored at some point and given maracas instead. Kind of ingenious if you think about it but ...He is entirely hand painted with amazing detail. These are some of the best figures ever designed by Kaendler. They are funny, decorative and so lifelike it's just incredible. This figurine is 5.75 inches tall, 2.25 inches wide and 2.25 inches deep. He displays nicely but as I have already mentioned the figure has had its hands and drum stick restored. An absolutely perfect job in terms of being invisible and definitely a one of a kind with the maracas :) Small chip to base edge invisible when on display. He is marked underneath with the blue crossed swords mark as well as the usual impressed and incised marks as well as a painter's number as shown. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
