Monkey Band Drum Carrier

This is a fun figurine of a kettle drum carrier from the monkey band series made by Meissen in the later 20th century. A very well executed figurine from a very popular / collected series by the top maker! The figure is very well modeled and hand painted perfectly. It is a really nice example and in perfect condition which is not all that common for this model! The monkey is holding the drums by a set of bands in his hands in front of him, is wearing a hat with a large feather on his head and some nice pants with bows on the sides. Typical base with gilded scrolls and a tree stump as support in the back. The two drums on his back. It's a great looking figure! The figurine is 5.25 inches tall, 2.5 inches wide and 2.125 inches deep. This piece is marked underneath with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark (first choice) as well as the unsual impressed numbers as shown. These figures from this band are so much fun to look at and the monkey band players are some of the most collected figures in porcelain even today.
