Figurine of Winter

This is a superb figurine made by Meissen in the late 19th century. Emblematic of winter the figure would ahve been part of a set of four seasons figurines. A really nicely modeled piece with the smoke over the flames in an urn besides him and a fur lines cloth draped to cover himself. The scroll work around the base has a nice puce trim to it which is a bit unusual and a nice touch compared to the more normal gilding I think. Hand painted perfectly! The figurine is in great condition with the thumb of his left hand being damaged. It was previously restored but broke again so it could use a little TLC. Displays just fine as is but if you want perfection it would be a cheap and easy job for any restorer! The figurine is marked underneath with the crossed swords in under glaze blue as well as the usual incised model number as well as an impressed number and a black painter's number 33. as shown. The figure is of a nice size being 7.75 inches tall, 3.625 inches wide and 2.5 inches deep. Please email me for more information or photos.
