O-Kante Floral Knife #1

This is a nice porcelain handled knife made by Meissen in the late 19th century. The porcelain handle is hand painted with two very nice floral arrangements as well as a few single flowers and the gold trim that uses ovals which gives this design the name O-Kante (O-trim). The piece is not marked but that is normal as the mark would be where the ferrule is placed. The knife displays nicely but there is some wear to the gold trim, oxidation to the metal parts and the porcelain handle has a tight hairline crack that comes from the ferrule end and runs sideways under the gold trim. Not obvious at all. It still is solid and still a nice example and a rare design to find on a knife! The piece is about 8 inches long with the visible porcelain being about 3.125 inches long.
