Owl Figurine

This is a hard to find owl figurine made by Meissen right around 1900. Superbly modeled and hand painted with the rare under glaze colors this is one spectacular piece. I think it is meant to be a great horned owl but I am definitely not an expert in owls. He is sitting on a pair of books that are left white and give the figure a nice contrast. Lots of details on this bird epsecially for the size. The figurine displays perfectly but each ear has a chip to the top part as shown mostly visible from the back and doesn't take away from the piece when on display. The underside is marked with the blue crossed swords mark as well as the usual impressed / incised marks as shown. First choice! The figurine is 3.625 inches tall, 2 inches wide and 21.5 inches deep. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
