Plate from Service with the Green Band

This is a rare and superb porcelain plate from the service with the green ribbon (Service mit dem Grünen Band / Kurländer Service) made by Meissen in the mid to late 19th century so from when the service was enlarged. Carl Christian Joseph (1733 - 1796), Duke of Kurland, probably received the service with the green ribbon in order to furnish his Kurländer Palais around 1774. The service originally included enough dishes for sa dessert service for 50 people but it was expanded in the second half of the 19th century of which this plate here is a part of. It shows how popular this service was even a hundred years after first having been comissioned. These pieces rarely come up for auction. The plate has a reticulated rim with gold designs to it and gold trim to the edge. The edge of the well has a gold ring to it on which the green ribbon is wound. Three small floral hand painted arrangements at even intervals in between the ribbon, a larger floral arrangement in the center of the plate and some small single flowers and a leaf fill in the rest of the space. A really nice design! The plate design was done by Michel Victor Acier while the decoration was designed by Johann Eleazar Schenau I believe. The plate is in superb condition with just a small spot of stacking wear to the purple small flower. It displays perfectly! The plate is 1.5 inches tall and 9.25 inches in diameter. Marked underneath with the under glaze blue crossed swords as well as an impressed number as shown. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
