Pair of Pre 1740 Candlesticks

This is a rare pair of candlestick made by Meissen around 1735. Each of the candleholders is nicely modeled and is hand painted with some small floral arrangements as well as some nice gold highlights. Really a very attractive shape and they look superb on my dining room table. The pair of sticks displays nicely but one has a chip to the top rim which is not that obvious due to the shape and the other also has a chip to the top edge which was at some point restored but has since been broken again and it was broken around the thin part just under where the candle would sit. That restoration also has yellowed over time and could use an easy redo. The pair is 6 inches tall with the base having a diameter of 4.875 inches. Very stable unlike many other candle holders these days. Each is marked underneath with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark as shown as well as a puce painter's mark. No impressed numbers yet so definitely pre 1740. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $699
