Strawflower Chocolate Cup & Saucer #2

This is a nice early chocolate cup and saucer set made by Meissen before 1740. It is very rare to find one of these early sets these days. Both pieces are hand painted with the well known strawflower design used by so many makers. The design goes all around and there is a nice trim to the inside edge of the cup. Typical early handle shape to both sides of the cup. The set is in superb condition with some minor firing flaws to the paste normal to these early wares. A black spot on the top edge of the cup being the most obvious. The saucer has a ribbed design to the underside which is a nice addition. The cup is just over 2.75 inches tall, 4 inches from handle to handle and 2.625 inches in diameter. The saucer is 1 inch tall and 4.875 inches in diameter. Both are marked underneath with the early under glaze blue crossed swords mark from this period as shown. No numbers yet as they started being used later. The saucer also has a blue line along the foot ring likely a mark for the blue painter. I added a pics with a strong light shining through the saucer to show the flaws their early paste had. I have a matching set on the site as well. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
