Pre Numbers Floral Cup & Saucer

This is a very early and superb cup and saucer set made by Meissen just before 1740. The porcelain has that superb warm white color to the paste that I love about some early Meissen pieces, the quatrefoil shape is superb and the decoration is top as well. There is a large floral arrangement hand painted on the front of the cup and to one side of the saucer with smaller flowers and leaves scattered throughout the rest of the pieces, a brown trim to the edge and a puce design to the handle as shown. A really superb piece! The flowers on these pieces are much more natural looking and much more detailed than later ones. The cup and saucer are in perfect condition. The cup is just over 2 inches tall, 3.375 inches from front to back without the handle and just over 3 inches wide. The saucer is 1.375 inches tall, 5.5 inches wide and 4.75 inches deep. Both pieces are marked with the underglaze blue crossed swords mark underneath. No impressed numbers yet on this set so a very early one! Both pieces have a painter's mark in puce as shown that match so these were always a set for sure. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
