Prunus Blossom Cup & Saucer

This is a great cup and saucer made by Meissen in about 1740. The set is decorated with the raised prunus blossom decoration on the underside of the saucer and around the sides of the cup and are otherwise left plain white to show of their porcelain - white was more treasured than painted back then! Both the cup & saucer are in great condition with just some natural inclusions normal to the early porcelain but the cup has warped during the firing and is not perfectly round anymore as shown. There is one larger area where the foot of the cup hits the main body where there is a large firing flaw as shown. Nice handle to the cup. Both pieces are marked with the under glaze blue crossed swords underneath as shown and both have an impressed number so the set dates right around the 1740s. The saucer is 4.75 inches in diameter and just under 1 inch tall. The cup is just above 1.75 inches tall and has a diameter between 3 and 3.375 inches.
