1894 Royal Court Dragon Plate

This is a very hard to find porcelain plate made by Meissen in 1894. It is hand painted with the superb red Hofdrachen ( court dragon ) design that was until 1918 exclusively made for the Saxon Royal Court and this plate here is from that service. Thus all pieces before this time were used by royalty. In the Chinese culture the red dragon symbolizes prosperity, power and good feng-shui . One rarely sees a dish from this service for sale especially in good condition. This plate is in great condition with some use wear and a chip to the foot ring but it displays beautifully! The plate is 1.5 inches tall and 9.75 inches in diameter. Marked underneath with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark as well as the usual impressed numbers and in black Kgl. Hofwirtschaft (which stands for Royal Court Household) and the year 1894. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $1249
