Ruth Plate by Wagner

This is a superb porcelain plate made by Meissen in the 19th century. It is handpainted by the famous porcelain plaque artist who painting the best ones - Wagner - who signed the work in the lower right hand corner. The painting shows Ruth who was a popular lady to be painted back then :) The quality is the best of the best. You won't find anything better. The painting is surrounded by a band of gilding with raised detail in the Art Nouveau manner then a band of grape vines with gilded highlights and then a superb reticulated rim with lots of gold detail. All in all a very stunning plate! This plate is in great condition with just a bit of wear to the gilding in one section of the reticulated area on the rim. Not obvious at all. The plate is 1 inch tall and 9.25 inches in diameter. Marked underneath with the underglaze blue crossed swords underneath as well as the impressed numbers 56 and 10 and red numbers 827 and some other numbers and letters plus the title of the plate in black "Ruth".
