Schmierzeit Basket

This is a fancy reticulated basket made by Meissen in the early 19th during the so called Schmierzeit. The basket is nicely modeled with the sides heavily reticulate. The inside bottom has a large floral arrangement hand painted on it , there are two smaller floral arrangements along the sides and two small single flowers. Each side has a hand in the shape of a branch that goes down to form the feet. The outside of the basket has a bird scene to the front and the back some gold trim and lots of applied 3D flowers and their leaves coming off the ranch handles. It's a nciely done piece and it looks great! The basket is in good display condition with the usual damage to the applied flowers plus one of the handles was off and has been restored though it was done pretty well and is not visible on display. Some chipping to the ends of the feet. The piece is 4 inches tall, 9 inches wide and 8.625 inches deep. It is marked with the under glaze blue crossed sword mark underneath as well as the usual impressed number as shown. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $499
