Sepia Scenes Tea Caddyt

This is a superb early tea caddy / jar made by Meissen in about 1780. Very nice to look at and a bit unusual possibly meant as a memorial piece with each side having a nice hand painted scene in sepia tones. One side has a column with an urn on top and a bow below in a nice landscape surrounding while the other side has a burning heart on a column with a quiver below it in a landscape surrounding. Both scenes have a fun floral garland held up with a bow to the top and the sides of the caddy have some nice flowers to it. Definitely nicer than the usual pieces. The lid also has some small flowers to it and a floral finial. Gold trim to the edge. The piece is in superb condition with a litte damage to the finial and the leaf but it displays superbly! The tea jar is very faintly marked on the unglazed underside with the blue crossed swords mark with the star from the Marcolini period as shown. The piece with the lid in place is 5 inches tall, 2.75 inches wide and 1.75 inches deep. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $749
