Shrimp Scene Plate

This is a great plate made by Meissen in the late 19th century or early 20th century. It is hand painted with a superb scene in the center including two shrimp, two pieces of white asparagus, some pearl onions (I think) and some lavender or fogtmenot flowers not sure which one. I ahve never seen shrimp painted on a Meissen plate since these are not things we ever at in Germany when I was young. I don't think I ever ate one until I came to the US. White asparagus however is one of my favorite veggies that is hard to find here but we always at it in Germany. Kind of funny. The painting is superb and there is a simple gold trim to the nicely shaped edge. The plate is in perfect condition and is marked with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark (first choice) underneath as well as the usual impressed mark as shown. It is 1.5 inches tall and 10 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $699
