Small Quatrefoil Scenic Cup & Saucer

This is a superb quatrefoil shaped cup and saucer made by Meissen in the later 19th century. Smaller than a full sized version but not tiny so likely a child's cup. Each piece is hand painted with a panel with a nice floral arrangement on white ground as well as an amazing Watteau style scene on white ground each being surrounded by some fancy gold trim. The rest of the cup & saucer has a deep cobalt blue ground color and some more fancy gold trim all over. The outside rim of the saucer and inside rim of the cup also has a gold trim to it as shown as does the footring. There is a nice design to the center of the saucer and the inside bottom of the cup. The handle of the cup has a nice shape to it based on a mid 18th century design. The set is in perfect condition with just a tiny bit of wear to the gilding of the saucer well. Both pieces are marked with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark underneath as well as the usual impressed / incised numbers and letters as shown - first choice off course. The saucer is just under 1 inch tall, 4.75 inches wide and 4.25 inches deep. The cup is 1.75 inches tall, 3 inches wide excluding the handle and 2.625 inches deep.
