Strawflower Plate

This is a nice early plate made by Meissen during the Marcolini period or earlier (yes this mark was used quite a bit earlier on occasion!). It is handpainted with the underglaze deep blue and the paste has a relief design to it. The pattern is called the strawflower design and it was very popular back in the day and still is to this day. The plate is in great condition with a tiny bit of wear to the clear glaze, as well as some manufacturing flaws like black spots and a firing crack (one of the reasons I think it is actually older since it was still denoted first quality!). Displays well and is rather nice! Marked with the straight blue crossed swords underneath with a star underneath as well as the blue painters mark on the footring which looks to be a script G. The plate is 1.25 inches tall and has a diameter of 9.625 inches. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $399
