Sugar Shaker

This is a very rare sugar shaker / caster / muffineer made by Meissen in about 1765 during the dot period. It is rather large with a superb design of floral garlands all around with a puce trim, a puce top design, an amzing reticulated top for the sugar to pour out of and amazingly the word sugar twice on the foot with flowers in between. So obviously a very early export piece! Not something one sees often from Meissen especially since there rarely is writing on porcelain :) This piece does have a very decorative shape. It is in amazing condition with some stained cracks on one small part of the reticulated top though it is stable and fairly meaningless. One leaf has a paint flake and there are tiny glaze flaws on the foot normal to the early wares. So all in all as good as it gets! The cork that was originally in the bottom is long gone which is no big deal. The pot is marked with the underglaze blue crossed swords with the dot between the bottom. The piece is just under 7 inches tall and 3 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $1749
