Art Nouveau Scenic Plate

This is a rare Art Nouveau / Jugendstil porcelain plate made by Meissen around 1900. Meissen missed the train a bit in terms of Art Nouveau / Jugendstil and thus their pieces are much harder to find than those of other makers of this period. What they did make were some superb pieces and this is a great example of it. The plate is hand painted with the superb scene covering the entire center which includes some buildings with a path in front of them going down to the water where two people can be seen in the distance. A nice large Tree gives them shade. A little gold ring around the well of the plate with the rim being simple and left in the white which makes this a super elegant plate! An amazing plate! This plate is in perfect condition. It is just under 1 inch tall and 10.75 inches in diameter so rather large. It is marked underneath with the under glaze blue crossed swords as well as the usual impressed marks. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $1249
