Watteau Scene Cobalt Blue Box

This is a nice little box made by Meissen in the late 19th or early 20th century. It is hand painted with a superb Watteau style scene on the lid surrounded by a gold trim. The rest of the lid and bottom part having a cobalt blue ground color with lots of fancy gilding over that. The bottom pice also has three panels with hand painted floral arrangements to it. Nice gold design to the bottom inside. A very nice piece to look at for sure! The lidded dish displays very well but both pieces have been broken in half in the past and restored. They did a pretty good job and it is hard to spot even from up close unless you really look for it. The bottom part is marked with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark (first quality) underneath as shown. The box is 1.875 inches tall and 2.75 inches in diameter. Price is $199
