This is an early cup and saucer made by Meissen in the 1740's. Both are handpainted with flowers in the woodcut style with the ones on the teabowl already showing the influence of the the Deutsche Blumen style that took hold around this period. The saucer has a large floral arrangement on one side and three smaller ones next to it with the cup having a large floral arrangement to one side with three small flowers on the other side and another on the inside bottom. Both pieces also have a the nice brown trim to the rim. The set is in great condition with some very minor wear to the brown trim. The cup is 1.625 inches tall and just under 3 inches in diameter. The saucer is 1 inch tall and 4.875 inches in diameter. They are both marked with the underglaze blue crossed swords mark that are straight from around 1740 and a puce painter's mark S.
