Yellow Dragon Demitasse Cup & Saucer

This is a mocha or espresso coffee demitasse cup & saucer made by Meissen in the later 19th or early 20th century. The pieces are decorated with the yellow dragon design called the Hofdrachen in Germany. It comes in a variety of colors with the yellow symbolizing power and good fortune . The set is hand painted with two yellow and gold dragons with some red highlights as well as a fancy design between them . The nicesly shaped handle has a bit of gold trim to it as does the nicely shaped top edge. This size cup and saucer is not easy to find and I like them better than regular sized pieces since they take up less room in the cabinets. Theset is in perfect condition which never hurts either :) Each is marked with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark underneath (first quality) as well as the usual impressed and painted marks one expects from pieces of this period as shown. The cup is just under 2 inches tall and 2.625 inches in diameter. The saucer is 1 inch tall and 4.375 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $299
