Bird Scene Cup

This is a rare cup made by Mennecy in the 18th century. It is made of softpaste porcelain and thus has a creamy warm white color, a green translucency with moons and a different feel than true hard paste porcelain! The cup is nicely handpainted with a bird surrounded by a landscape scene. Nice blue ring around the top, blue trim to the handle and there used to be a gold trim but it is mostly gone. This is a very rare subject by a pretty rare maker so a special piece for sure! Sadly no saucer though :( The piece is marked underneath with an incised D.V. - tried to show it but it is a bit hard to see. The piece is in great condition with just the wear to the gold trim as mentioned before. Little bit of wear to the colors which is normal on soft paste pieces but nothing that distracts at all. The cup is 2.5 inches tall and 2.625 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $599
