Pot a Pommade Lid

This is a rare lid probably for a large pot a pommade / fard which is sort of a lotion / ointment / makeup pot made by Mennecy in the 18th century. Larger than most lid one finds! The piece is made of soft paste porcelain and is hand painted very nicely with a blue design more reminiscent of St. Cloud porcelain but definitely made by Mennecy. They used finer detail and brush strokes than Saint Cloud. They call these designs lambrequin patterns and they are based on Baroque designs often seen in embroideries, metalworks, etc. The design goes all around the rim of the lid and there is a nice touch to the top of the finial as well. The piece is in great condition with just a chip to the side of the finial as shown. It displays superbly and is ready to find it missing body :) Definitely a rare survivor and a rare opportunity to complete a piece that is missing theirs. The lid is about 1.5 inches tall without that underside ring and 3.375 inches in diameter. The underside ring that would fit inside the opening has an outer diameter of just under 3 inches so the opening needs to be at least that size or a touch bigger for the lid to fit properly.
