Chinoiserie Knife #3

This is a very rare large knife with the handle made of porcelain by Mennecy around 1740. The porcelain has a creamy color to it and is made of softpaste. It is hand painted with a colorful Chinoiserie design. The blade is steel which is marked as shown. The knife is amazingly complete with the blade which isn't that common and the porcelain is in good condition with some wear to the decoration and three short hairlines on the end enar the ferrule. The wear to the decoration is very comon on softpaste porcelain like this. The blade has a bit of oxidation to it as shown and the silver collar is oxidized and has some minor dings. The piece that sticks out at the end of the handle is still present and in good shape which is a plus! The porcelain is unmarked which is the norm. The knife is 11.375 inches long of which the visible porcelain handle is about 3.5 inches long. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $399
