Fancy Pedestal Base

This is a fancy little pedestal made by Mennecy in the 18th century. It is made of softpaste porcelain and thus has a creamy warm white color to the paste and the enamel colors look quite different from the usual hard paste one sees much more often. Much much nicer! The pedestal has a relief design to it highlighted in their typical puce color with a hand painted flower to each side. A bit of a step design to the top and bottom edge. The piece is unmarked which s not unusual but tehre is no question it havng been made by them. The piece is in superb condition with some firing cracks to the underside top as shown. Typical for this maker to sort of hide them with some over paint as can be seen here. A bit of wear to the flat top but that is to be expected on softpaste pieces. The stand is 2.125 inches tall and 2.5 inches square on the bottom. The top part where a figurine or miniature vase would sit is just over 1.5 inches on each side in the center.
