Fruit Scene Cup

This is a rare nicely shaped cup made by Mennecy in the 18th century. It is made of soft paste porcelain and thus has a creamy warm white color, a green translucency with moons and a different feel than true hard paste porcelain! The enamel colors sort of sink into the paste and gives these pieces an amazing look! The cup is nicely hand painted with a fruit scene to one side, a smaller fruit arrangement to the other and a small flower in between. The top edge and handle have a pink trim to them quite typical of this maker! Sadly no saucer though :( The piece is marked underneath with an incised D.V. as well as a script f one sees quite often on their pieces. The cup is in great condition with just the usual minor firing flaws normal to these early pieces. A touch of use marks to the glaze one sees much more often on softpaste pieces. It displays perfectly! The cup is 2.625 inches tall and 2.625 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $499
