King Louis XV Plaque

This is a really rare plaque of a profile bust of King Louis XV made by Mennecy in about 1760. Christie's sold one with the portrait also in biscuit but the background was glazed in blue which looked amazing! Here the entire plaque is done in biscuit / unglazed soft paste porcelain. Really nice and since there is not glaze to obscure all those fine details it is just superb! Two holes for hanging in the top of the plaque but someone added a frame to it a while back which also works. The plaque is in good condition with a bunch of firing flaws from when it was made but no chips, etc. It shows the difficulties they faces when making pieces like this! The frame looks OK but is pretty busted up and the plaque just taped into it so I would give it a new frame or just display it without one as it was meant to be. The entire piece with the frame in place is 10 inches wide and 11.5 inches tall. The plaque itself is about 6.75 inches wide and 8.5 inches tall. I don't see a mark on the underside but you can look up the one sold at Christie's which was marked and sold for over 10K! Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $1999
