Lion w/Young Snuff Box

This is a rare figural snuff / patch / pill box / tabatiere made by Mennecy in the mid 18th century. It is made of soft paste porcelain and thus has a creamy warm white color. The box has a figure of a lion with a young lion climbing on her on the top part of the box. The lioness is lying down on a green base. The figure is superbly modeled and had painted to perfection. Softpaste pieces look so much nicer than hard paste ones! The lid has a replacement of a piece of Agage or some other natural stone to it. Looks great and serves the prupose. The porcelain original likely cracked to badly a long time ago. The mounts are silver though they are not hall marked as far as I can find. Really a superb piece! The porcelain is unmarked as well which is normal. The piece is 1.625 inches tall, 2.375 inches wide and 1.75 inches deep. The piece displays superbly since the replacement lid is hidden when on display! Really a cute example! Please email me for more information or other pictures.
