Mustard Pot

This is a mustard pot made by Mennecy in the 18th century. A barrel shaped piece with a handle with a lid that has a slot in the side for a spoon. Could also be used for jam or jelly. The piece is made of soft paste porcelain. The main body and lid are hand painted with polychrome flowers, a puce trim and the lid has a little floral finial with the stem and leaves. The enamel colors of the flowers are amazing and it makes soft paste so much nicer than hard paste porcelain. The piece is not marked underneath but the style and painting is easy to identify it as Mennecy. The main body and lid are 2.75 inches tall and 2.25 inches in diameter. The set is in great conditionh with the main body ahving a firing crack right above the handle that was covered with leaves when it was made and the finial has a chipped petal and another one has been reglued. Still displays very nicely and is not easy to find at all. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $499
