Floral Saucer

This is a superb saucer made by Mennecy in the 18th century. It is made of softpaste porcelain and thus has a creamy warm white color and the enamel colors of the flowers look quite different from the usual hard paste one sees much more often by other makers. The dish is hand painted nicely with two large flower arrangements as well as some smaller flowers and leaves and has a puce trim to the nicely shaped edge. The piece is marked with the incised D.V mark as shown and has a green leaf on the udnerside covering a flaw which is very typical of this maker! The saucer is in great condition with some very minor wear mostly to the clear glaze and some tiny firing imperfection all common to early soft paste porcelain. It displays perfectly and is a great example. The dish is 1.375 inches tall, 6 inches wide and 5 inches deep. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
