Nice Polychrome Figurine

This is a superb figurine made by Mennecy in the 18th century. These polychrome larger figures are really quite rare and hard to find. Here we have a figure of two boys playing with a goat and a rocky base with a tree stump in the back. One of the boys is riding the goat while the other is holding it by a horn, The base is typically modeled with green and brown color patches to it. There i a flower to the front. The figurine is nicely modeled and hand painted. In pretty good shape considering its age. It has had the tail of the goat restored which has yellowed over time and both front legs of the goat were restored as well and are now missing again. One small piece of root sticking out the back has been restored and one back leg of the goat has a crack in it. So as I said all in all in great shape and an easy fix for a decent restorer. The piece is marked with the impressed D.V mark as shown on the bottom edge of the back. The figure is 8.125 inches tall, 4 inches wide and 3.25 inches deep.
