Polychrome Floral Lid

This is a rare lid probably for a pot au lait / creamer / milk jug and was made by Mennecy in the 18th century. A gorgeous example for a lid! The piece is made of soft paste porcelain and is hand painted superbly with a polychrome floral garland that goes all around the lid - smaller flowers where the leaves of the finial take up room and larger ones where there is more space. The finial is in the form of a flower blossom with its stems and four leaves. The paste has a relief design to it and the edge a pink trim. Doesn't get much nicer for a lid from this period! The piece is in superb condition with just three small chips to the leaves. Very minor and the lid displays perfectly! Definitely a rare survivor and a rare opportunity to complete a piece that is missing theirs. The lid is about 1.5 inches tall without that underside ring and 2.5 inches in diameter. The underside ring that would fit inside the opening has an outer diameter of just under 2.25 inches so the opening needs to be at least that size or a touch bigger for the lid to fit properly.
