Teapot

This is a rare teapot made by Mennecy in about 1760 ( a similar one can be seen at the V&A museum website). The tea pot is made of softpaste porcelain and is handpainted very nicely with floral garlands and some puce trim to the spout and handle. Floral finial to the lid. The piece is marked underneath with an incised D underneath as shown. It is in great condition with some very minor chipping to the spout end though that appears to be from the making and the finial on the lid is damaged. The leaf was off and is reglued, the stem is missing and the finial appaears to be either reattached and reworked or maybe even a replacement though it was done very well with some gold paint covered the inside spot underneath the lid. The piece displays very nicely! The teapot is 4.5 inches tall and 3.25 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
