Large Underplate

This is a bit of a mystery dish made by Mennecy in the mid 18th century. Either a large saucer dish or under plate for maybe a pitcher - not sure at all. The piece is made of a creamy colored soft paste with a superb handpainted floral garland around the rim and four small leaves around the well edge of the plate. The center of the well has a riaed rim to it like a trembleuse saucer. Puce trim to that and the edge of the plate. The flowers are painted superbly and the piece looks great. The plate is in great condition with a bit of wear mainly to the raised center ring as shown. Un marked except for some sort of incised mark I cannot make out as shown. It is 1.25 inch tall and 8.625 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $299
