Metzler & Ortloff Walter Bosse Figure

This is a porcelain figurine made by Metzler & Ortloff in the late 1920's. Metzler & Ortloff was founded originally around 1873 and finally closed its doors in 1976. This figure was designed during their best period by the famous Walter Bosse who worked for them from 1926 until 1930. He made about 200 different figures though most are dogs or such things and very few more intricate pieces like the one I have here. This figurine is of a little girl riding a horse on a base decorated with colorful flowers alogn the side. The piece is quite typical of his work which makes him so collectable. I love this piece A piece that is well modeled and painted to just be fun to look at which is one of the reasons his work is so popular even today! It just makes you smile. The figurine is in perfect condition which always helps! The piece is marked underneath with the green MO mork under a crown in a circle as well as an impressed four digit number though I cannot make it out. The figurine is about 3.75 inches tall, 1.5 inches wide and 2.625 inches long. Please email me for more information or photos.
