Walter Bosse Dog Figurine #2

This is a cute and very rare porcelain figurine made by Metzler & Ortloff in the late 1920's. Metzler & Ortloff was founded originally around 1873 and finally closed its doors in 1976. This figurine was designed during their best period by the famous Walter Bosse who worked for them from 1926 until 1930. He made about 200 different figures though most are dogs or such things and very few are larger pieces. The piece here is of a dog possibly a boxer standing on a rectangular base with rounded corners with a flower with its leaves next to it. A super cute example with dark and light brown patches and a cute face. The figure is part of their placecard holder series but I could not find another example of this aprticular model. The figure is modeled and hand painted in the typical fashion for this maker and designer. Really a fun little piece! The figurine is in perfect condition which always helps and is marked underneath with the green MO mork under a crown in a circle as well as an impressed number 5549 as shown. The figurine is about 2.25 inches tall, 1.125 inches wide and 2 inches long. Please email me for more information or photos.
