Walter Bosse Horse Figurine

This is a porcelain figurine made by Metzler & Ortloff in the late 1920's. Metzler & Ortloff was founded originally around 1873 and finally closed its doors in 1976. This figurine was designed during their best period by the famous Walter Bosse who worked for them from 1926 until 1930. He made about 200 different figures though most are dogs or such things and very few are larger pieces. The piece here I ahve enver seen. It comes from a series of place card holders and is of a little horse standing on its hind legs with a little greenery next to it. Modeled and painted in the typical fashion for this maker and designer. I have never come across this piece before but have had the cow, elephant, etc. Really a fun little figure! The figurine is in perfect condition which always helps and is marked underneath with the green MO mork under a crown in a circle as well as an impressed number 5262 (I think) and Germany in black as shown. The figurine is about 2 inches tall, 1.125 inches wide and 1.75 inches long. Please email me for more information or photos.

Price is $199
