Metzler & Ortloff Large Walter Bosse Figurine

This is a really fun porcelain figurine made by Metzler & Ortloff in the late 1920's. Metzler & Ortloff was founded originally around 1873 and finally closed its doors in 1976. This figurine was designed during their best period by the famous Walter Bosse who worked for them from 1926 until 1930. He made about 200 different figures though most are dogs or such things and the orchestra series is one of the nicer ones he designed. One can find the smaller versions once in a while but this piece here is much larger and just superb. Quite difficult to find this version. This figurine is of a young girl laying the accordion and is quite typical of his work. A piece that is well modeled and painted to just be plain fun to look at which is one of the reasons his work is so popular even today! Yellow hair with a funky dress and black tips to her shoes and a single fun flower next to her on the base. Superb! The figurine is in perfect condition. The piece is marked underneath with the green MO mork under a crown in a circle as well as an impressed four digit number that is difficult to make out and the partial remain of the word Germany in black as shown. The figurine is about 5.375 inches tall, 3.5 inches wide and 2.625 inches deep. Please email me for more information or photos.

Price is $599
