Naples Del Vecchio Creamware Vase

This is a very rare vase made by Fabbrica Del Vecchio in the early 19th century. I found this shape by another maker Giustiniani but have not found this model by DelVecchio in my books. They were located in the same city so it makes sense they copied each other from time to time. The vase is made of creamware and is hand painted with a superb polychrome bird scene on the front and back side as well as a nice blue iron red and black trim design to the foot and the top part with a black and iron red design to the top edge. My favorite part however are the two Medusa heads in relief to either side. They called them Medusa in the book but it has a pair of wings so maybe more like Mercury. Either way they are superbly modeled and hand painted in great detail and colors. A relief design under the blue trim and a "pearl" relief ring under the trim of the top edge. The vase displays nicely but has some issues. There is some light crazing normal to these pieces, wear to the noses of the heads some staining to the inside and an area along the top rim that has been restored and that over paint has discolored a bit. Could be done a bit better by any decent restorer. The foot has been restored in one area on the very bottom edge. Well done and does not show when on display. Still an amazing and very rare example. It is marked underneath with the impressed FDV over N mark for Fabbrica Del Vecchio Napoli as shown. The piece is 7.75 inches tall and 6.25 inches in diameter.
