Beggar Figurine

This is a figurine of a beggar / homeless person made by Niderviller around 1800. The figure is nicely modeled and hand painted. The gentleman has an injured right hand in a sling, a bag and a container on his right hip and is using a staff for walking. He has socks with holes in it and even the front of one shoe is missing. There is the typical rock work as well as the gold trim on the base. A backpack is slung over the rock but it blends in with it so it's hard to tell that it is there. The figure is in great condition with the staff having been restored seems like it broke off under the hand and on the base - not obvious unless you look for it! A white spot on his hat either on purpose or where the black color didn't take - either way from when he was made. The piece displays perfectly. As is the case with most of their figurines he is unmarked. The figurine is 5.875 inches tall and the base has a diameter of 2.5 inches. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
