Large Biscuit Figurine #1

This is a really ncie figurine made by Niderviller in the late 18th century. Made in unglazed or biscuit porcelain it is of a couple where the lady looks like she is in the process of falling down having lost the basket she was carrying which has fallen over in front of her and holding onto the gentleman's hair in order not to fall down all the way. The basket was filled with fruit and leaves which has spilled over the rocky base. I also have the painted version of this but the unglazed piece is so much nicer! You can see all the fine details of the paste. The base on this piece here has been raised by a pedestal which is not very common for them but does appear on unglazed pieces. The piece displays nicely but does have some expected damages for apiece this old. She is missing the thunmb on her right hand and he some fingers on his left hand. Some small chips to his hat and there are some chips to that raised ring around the top of the pedestal as shown. All in all in great shape and it looks amazing when displayed. The figure is marked which is fairly rare. It has the little plaque with the name NIDERVILLER on it as shown. The figurine is about 8 inches tall and the base is about 4.75 inches in diameter. An old museum ID underneath in red as shown. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $599
