Faience Figurine

This is a rare faience figurine made by Niderviller in the 18th century. It is of a couple sitting on a rock base with the lady holding a cat in her lap and the gentleman a bird cage in his hand. A hat is lying in the front on the base. The piece is hand painted superbly. It is rare that I find faience figures that are as good as porcelain pieces in terms of quality of the painting. A truly superb figure ! The figurine displays nicely but sadly both their heads have been off at some point and were reattached. Very clean and it could be easily hidden perfectly without much effort by a good restorer. There is a chip to the back bottom of the base and an occasional small glaze spot missing but all in all a really nice piece! It is marked to the underside with the interlaced CC mark as well as the number 1709 as shown. The figurine is 5.25 inches tall and the base is 4 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
