Duck Teapot

This is the matching teapot for the two cups I have on the site. It was made by Niderviller around 1780 and is handpainted with an underglaze blue double line which is highlighted by a gold design made to look like waves. Between the two stripes is a handpainted fancy gold design of a duck sitting on a small overflowing water design on either side with some foliage between them and four small flying ducks above that. The lid has the same design on it as well. The pot is marked with the gold script Nider mark short for Niderville which was sometimes used back then. There is also a script G or Q incised underneath but I am not sure of what it is exactly. The teapot is in superb condition with only the tiniest amount of wear to the gilding! There is a small chip to the inside rim of the lid which cannot be seen unless you take it out and the two small points that hold it in palce are a little chipped. The pot and lid are about 5.75 inches tall and 4 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $1749
