Cupid Reading Figurine

This is a superb figurine of Amor / Cupid lying on a large rectangular base made by Niderviller in the 18th century. Cupid is writing in a book with his feather pen while leaning on some more books. He is wearing a red striped cloth with a purple lining. His wings are extremely well painted in shades of yellow, pink, blue and grey. His face and hair are also well painted in typical Niderviller fashion. A very unusual figurine for them as I couldn't find another like it. The base is painted mostly in black with a white and gold stripe to the top sides. The piece is extremely solid and heavy being made of one solid piece of porcelain no airhole underneath. The figure displays nicely but has damage - he has a firing crack in his left thigh, the feather pen is missing the middle portion, his left wing was broken off and is reglued with both wingtips missing, the white page coming out of the books is damaged, the book he is writing in has a reglued part with a piece missing and the base has a bit of damage. All in all nothing that can't be fixed fairly easily and he displays very nicely! The figurine is not marked but is certainly by them. It is 4.5 inches tall, 7.75 inches wide and 3.5 inches deep.
