Figurine with Turtle

This is a superb figurine of a sleeping gentleman and a nude putto made by Niderviller around 1800. The putto or nude boy is holding a turtle (or maybe a crab of some sort) near the sleeping man's hand to maybe snap at him and wake him/scare him. The figurine is very detailed and painted nicely. There is the typical rock work as well as a hat filled with fish and a cane. Gold trim to the bottom rim. The piece is extremely solid and heavy being made of one solid piece of porcelain. The figure is in good condition for its age with the feet of the gentleman chipped, the corener of the hat chipped the tip of the stick missing which connected to the man's sleeve and might have been a fishing net. Also the two branches of the tree are gone and a gilded over chip to the bottom rim. The damage sounds worse than it is because the figurine still displays superbly! It is marked underneath with an incised N.58. and is 5.375 inches tall and 3.75 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
